No matter how much stuff we move from the storeroom into tomb K-seventeen, the amount left never seems to change.

It probably doesn't help that Nik is more distracted than ever despite nothing having really happened since Ma'at's priests arrived to start their audit. They haven't asked any of us any questions and are mostly just loitering through the temple.

Maybe that's what's making him uncomfortable. I have to admit to disliking it myself because of how little they actually seem to do. How can they work out the problems going on in the temple if they're not actually looking for them?

I push the thought out of my mind and focus on making sure the box containing jars of perfumes ends up in the right place. I set it down on top of a table and pull out the map to confirm I'm in the right room.

"Okay, got it, so the perfumes need to go on the left by the senet board," I mutter to myself, turning to the place where both should be. It appears that the game board hasn't made its way into auxiliary room one yet, but that's okay. So long as it's in place by tomorrow, it won't be an issue.

I set the box into position and check the time. I grimace. Somehow, it's already clocking off time, but I'm still a five-minute walk from the storeroom.

I hurry out of the tomb, always worrying that by being the last one inside, I'm going to get locked in here. I know it wouldn't be a permanent thing, but it's enough to play on my mind.

I head back up to the storeroom, spotting the familiar silhouettes of Matia and Nik waiting for me. It brings a smile to my face to see how protective she's being of him. It's like she wants him to know that she's there to support him when he needs it. I'm not sure if it's normal for a Blessed animal to form such a strong bond with another person, but when it means I get to watch Nik and Matia together, I don't think I care.

"Are you done?" he asks as I approach.

I nod. "We have some bits to move in tomorrow, but it's only small stuff."

We start to make our way out of the burial grounds and towards the barge stop to catch the ride home. It's a shame that everything has changed around the temple now, or we might have been able to stay later and finish it so we could move on to something else tomorrow.

"You know, we still haven't played that game of senet," Nik says as the barge pulls up.

"So we haven't. What made you think of that?" I hand my fare to the ship's captain and wait for him to give me my change.

He gives me five debens back and I head to one of the empty seats. Nik joins me moments later, while Matia curls up at our feet, more than used to the movements of the barge now.
